If you are like me, and I’m sure millions of others, you probably have a difficult time keeping the resolutions that you so determinedly make for the New Year. Well… two years ago I read a wonderful book by Debbie Macomber, One Perfect Word, that gave me the solution for that dilemma. Instead of making resolutions that I clearly knew wouldn’t last past the first snow of the year, the idea is that you prayerfully choose a word that encompasses whatever you want to focus on for the upcoming year.
It sounded like such a great idea that would not only be fun, but totally doable. For once no failures here! So I got busy and prayed and before long God gave me the word “Trust”. It seemed like such a simple word, but little did I know how much our family would go through during that year, and how much I would cling to that word to see me through each day. So when December finally rolled around I was anxious and ready to find out what my new word would be.
“Trust” just seemed to scream out to me yet again. I wasn’t anxious to embrace that word again as it had turned out to not be such a simple word after all, but obviously I was a slow learner and there was more that God needed/wanted to teach me.
2013 turned out to be the most difficult year that I have ever experienced, but through each and every trial and heartache I could clearly see God’s hand. I trusted and He safely brought me through each and every crisis.
This year I am so excited that I have been given a new word, “Create”. I even found this beautiful pendant from this fun Etsy shop, http://www.etsy.com/shop/RiverwalkDesigns that will allow me to keep my word on my heart all year.
Although I really want to believe that “Create” means that I am going to be able to spend all my time this year creating my art, I am not naive enough to overlook the fact that the word create has more than one meaning. By the end of 2014 I know that I will have discovered that there are many different ways and things to “Create”! I will try to post weekly…life permitting, and share my “creations”.
Welcome to my blog and thank you for joining me on this journey of CREATING!!
